Firefighters tackle fire at building at the Cantley Sugar Factory

Three crews of firefighters have tackled a fire at a three-storey industrial building in Cantley, on the Broads.

A fire service spokesman said the building was connected to the Cantley Sugar Factory site.

They were called at 9.50pm, and first of the crews from Acle, Great Yarmouth and Gorleston arrived at the scene at 10.05pm.

The fire service said the fire was in a sealed store, and firefighters wore breathing apparatus and use main jets with water from a hydrant.

An aerial ladder was also been sent to the scene as a precaution, because of the size of the building, in case firefighters need to tackle to fire from outside the building.

Cantley Sugar Factory confirmed there had been a “minor incident” at its site, but said it had been contained.
