Excited A-level students celebrate top marks at East Norfolk Sixth Form College

And there were smiling faces all round the Gorleston campus as the teenagers and their teachers celebrated top results, with 73.4pc of students gaining an A* – C grade, and 98.3pc scooping A* – E grades.

Principal Daphne King hailed 2015’s results as “excellent”.

“We expect a high standard because we really stretch our students,” she added. “It’s so emotional seeing these students leave knowing how hard they have had to work.”

Mrs King said there had been some “stunning” results and put the successful grades down to the dedication of students and staff.

“It’s a combination of the hard work of students, because A-levels are not easy, and the terrific support and help that they get from our staff,” she added.

While many students are now excitedly looking forward to taking up a place at university – with many gaining top places at Cambridge – others were looking at other options, including going straight into work.
